Accelerated Glider Pilot Course for Transitioning Airplane Pilots
2 days +2 days = Glider Pilot
We have found that the most rewarding and economical way for airplane pilots wishing to transition to gliders is through an accelerated course. We recommend a “2-day Solo Course” followed by a “2-day Post Solo Course” a week or two later. The reason for the break between the courses is to allow the student time to study and absorb their solo course experience. This course is accelerated but it still covers our complete glider training syllabus. Our goal is not to just get you a license but to have you prepared to join the local BASA club and fly their high performance gliders.
Before the accelerated course we do recommend taking one of our introductory lessons. By being able to take a short glider flight and go over the training syllabus with your instructor we find students are much more productive on the first day of the course. We can always send you the training materials and manuals if coming in for an introductory lesson is not practical. We do not have set prices for the courses since the number of tows and flight hours required can vary between students. The majority of our transitioning airplane pilots complete the course within the 4-day period with a few students needing a little more time. The total cost of the accelerate course is typically between $3,000 and $4,000.
