PANOCHE INFORMATION
In the last few years, the pilots at the
Hollister Gliding Club have discovered
that there are excellent soaring conditions
just a short hop away in the Panoche Valley.
This has made soaring
more enjoyable both for novice pilots
as well as experienced pilots, who have
used it as a starting point for longer
cross-country flights than we ever thought
possible. In general, it is a great time
to be a soaring pilot flying out of Hollister.
The
following is the approximate coordinates
of those thermals as well as the release
point over the south end of Quin Sabe
valley, 15 miles from Hollister.
Rel - N36:47.6 W121:10.1 (Release area)
EL1 - N36:41.3 W120:57.8 (Panoche elevator)
EL2 - N36:30.2 W120:55.6 (Hernandez north
elevator)
EL3 - N36:22.2 W120:46.7 (Hernandez elevator)
EL4 - N36:20.4 W120:42.2 (Hernandez south
elevator)
