Saturday 4/20 was the best day I ever had out of Hollister. Took a 5500 ft tow to east ridge (tin roof) just before noon and around 2PM I was at the end of the San Joaquin Valley after a fast run between 8000 to 10000 ft, following a well defined cloud street. It got trickier from that point, had to struggle for a while to get over Mt Pinos in the blue, but eventually got up to 12.5K near Frazier Mt and continued SE into deteriorating conditions. The Mojave desert wasn't very consistent with 20+ knots winds from the SW. Had to zigzag from one convergence zone to another (almost landed in Palmdale), turned NE at Crystal airport and followed the shear line to the end for a final glide to Barstow-Dagget airport 295 statue miles from Hollister. Total dog leg distance from release to landing via Crystal was 317 miles (509km). Brian flew the same route and actually caught up with me at Mt Pinos, and landed in Palmdale for the second longest straight out from Hollister.
